The Registration for the Far Eastern Model UN 2018 is closed, the winners of the Grant Competition are selected – it means the hugest stage of the Conference is completed. However, in order to perform great during the debates, you should prepare properly – and in order to prepare properly, you should a have a strong motivation! Get inspired by the new story of the winner of FEMUN 2017 and work hard upon your preparation!

1. What did you expect from FEMUN 2017?

During my preparation for FEMUN 2017, I was really scared to debate because of the new format. UN4MUN differs significantly from the regular MUN procedure to which I was used to. That is why I thought the Conference would be extremely challenging.

2. How was it in reality?

Getting used to a different way of debating turned out to be not as difficult as I thought! During the Conference, the delegates had an opportunity to attend series of trainings delivered by a former worker of the United Nations, Mr. William Yotive, during which the procedural rules and the peculiarities of the format were explained. Therefore, I was able to gain a clear understanding of the impending ways of debates, and, during the Conference itself, I was able to adjust to a new format rather quickly.

3. How many sleepless nights did you have during preparation for the Conference?

During the preparation for the Conference I was also involved in different MUNRFE projects, so my schedule was extremely tight, especially the last few weeks before the Conference. However, thanks to this experience, I was able to acquire really valuable time-management skills!

4. SC or GA? Why?

I have been always passionate about topics concerning the environment, inequalities and lack of basic opportunities, and since those topics are discussed in frames of GA committees, I only have an experience of debating there. However, I can say that the vigorous way of debating in the Security Council could be really fascinating, and one day I would, definitely, like to debate in SC!

5. What can you say to the participants of FEMUN 2018?

Don’t be afraid to be as active as it is possible, and try to enjoy every second of the Conference! Remember that you are incredibly lucky to have had an opportunity to participate in the only UN4MUN conference in Russia, so try to seize every moment of this experience!
