FEMUN: FEEDBACK
- Why were you interested in participation at FEMUN?
I was impressed with the unique format of this event - the only Conference in Russia which is close to the real UN work. Indeed, each participant plunges into the atmosphere of diplomatic service. The most important thing in frames of FEMUN is the art of letting someone else have your way instead of following the opponent's lead. Additionally, I met people who are inspired me to set long-term and short-term ambitious goals, and be more confident in speaking English in a diplomatic way.
2. How can you describe a feeling of speaking on behalf of the whole state?
Honestly, the fear of public speaking is remarkably common. For the first time, I felt nervous, my palms sweated, my stomach tied itself into knots. The delegates were staring at me like I said something wrong or inappropriate. Everything was on my mind. Eventually, I understood that there was the only thing that I need to do. Step by step I was eliminating the fear of non-recognition and building the wall separated me from the public for concentration on how I speak and what I strive to report.
3. What makes FEMUN so special to you?
This is my favourite Conference I have ever participated in.
All conditions provided by the Secretariat allow me to feel free in my actions and organize the work of the Committee in the way that suits me. For several days we discussed the exact agenda item in the details in order to reach consensus, pursuing the interests of an assigned state and solving the global issue of concern for the entire international community.
4. If you have a chance to give a piece of advice for potential participants, what would you say?
Dear delegates, I believe that every moment of one's existence, one is growing into more or retreating into less. This conference is not an exception. Be сonfident, stay yourself and be sure that your goals will be achieved! May the force be with you!
